Chinese automaker Leapmotor, backed by Stellantis, has teased its all-new Lafa 5 electric SUV ahead of its official debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich on September 9.
Marking a departure from the brand’s traditional two-character naming convention, the Lafa 5 is a compact hatchback designed for urban mobility, internally codenamed B05.

The Lafa 5 rides on Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 modular architecture, shared with the B10 crossover, and follows the brand’s modern design language. The compact hatchback features curved LED headlights, retractable door handles, a sporty roof spoiler, and a single taillight unit. A LiDAR sensor on the roof, typically reserved for premium EVs, enhances driver assistance capabilities.
Additional features include blacked-out side mirrors, a rear-view camera, and sculpted fenders. While official dimensions have not been revealed, the Lafa 5 appears to be similar in size to the Volkswagen ID.3, which measures 4,262 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width, and 1,552 mm in height.

Leapmotor, which was partially acquired by Stellantis last year, has been experiencing significant growth. In August 2025, the company delivered a record 57,066 vehicles worldwide—an 88% increase compared to the same month in 2024. From January to August 2025, total sales reached 328,859 units, and the automaker reported its first semi-annual net profit during this period.
Leapmotor currently offers three models in our market: the premium C10 SUV, B10 compact SUV, and T03 city hatchback. The Lafa 5 will expand the brand’s urban EV portfolio and strengthen its international presence.
